HHS FCCLA Excels At State Competition

The state STAR event competitions were held at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Nashville during the week of April 21-25.  Mrs. Denita Jarratt, Mrs. Sarah Haynes, and Mrs. Vickie Noles each had FCCLA members to compete. There results were as follows:

Justice Brown received a silver medal in Creed, Senior. She placed 4th in the state.

Adara Donald received a silver medal in Illustrated Talk, Junior. She placed third in the state and is the first alternate for the national competition.

Averyon Pettigrew, Juanita Snipes, and Teri Wilson earned a silver medal in Focus on Children, Sr., placing 7th in the state.

Courtney Green, Michelle Leal, and Camry Williams competed in Culinary Arts and received a bronze medal. The girls worked very hard, and Mrs. Noles commended them for their valiant effort in their first attempt in this rigorous cooking competition.

Jada Brooks and Amber Harris competed in the Life Event Planning category. They received a gold medal and 2nd place in the state. They will be representing Haywood High School in San Antonio, Texas, this summer at the National FCCLA Leadership Conference and STAR Events.

Kia Davis also attended the conference, serving as a voting delegate.

Mrs. Jarratt, Mrs. Haynes, and Mrs. Noles complement the students on their behavior at the event. “All the students’ hard work showed in their competitions and they represented Haywood High School well,” they said.

Mrs. Jarratt was also honored with the state Master Advisor award for her service and dedication to FCCLA. She will travel to San Antonio this summer to receive this award on a national level as well.
