HHS nursing students help with health screenings at schools
Students in Mrs. Julie Taylor’s Nursing Education classes are in the process of assisting Coordinated School Health with its annual health screenings for students in grades K, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9th-grade Wellness classes. According to School Coordinated Health Director Cindy Smith, their help is invaluable, since most schools want their students out of class as little as possible.
“Both groups of students have been very competent and responsible,” Mrs. Smith said. “A group of them even provided hearing and vision screenings during the recent Community Health Fair at the W.O.W. building earlier this month. What a win-win situation … to be learning new skills while performing a much-needed service at the same time!”
Students helping with the health screenings were Jordan Bailey, Emma Baumheckel, Tiara Boyd, Paige Houge, Marlene Negrete, Sara Rodriguez, Jessica Taylor, Destiny Williams, Jamie April, Bailey Baggett, Keoundria Evans, Shelby Harris, Carolann Howell, Jabria Nixon, Infiniti Pickens, Anna Smith, Alina Woods and Areyanah Mosby.
