HHS Production Of “Sound Of Music” A Great Success

The Haywood High School Drama Department’s production of The Sound of Music has joined a long line of productions over the years that have brought accolades for the students’ and their directors’ talent and hard work. Directed by Melanie Dotson and Melinda Goedecke, the story of the Austrian Trapp family that was told in the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s movie when it was released in 1965, was told yet again by the outstanding local actors who filled the cast of the musical that delighted the audiences. The Sound of Music especially showcased the musical talent of a number of the students who sang such classic favorites from the movie as, “Climb Every Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Edelweiss,” “Do-Re-Mi,” and “The Sound of Music.” The directors say that 93 students participated as crew members and actors in the production.
