HMS Beta Club holds annual food drive
Members of the Haywood Middle School Beta Club outdid themselves this year with the annual canned food drive for the Salvation Army. According to the Beta Club sponsors, this year, by far, is the biggest year ever for this service project. This year broke the school record as well as the classroom record.
Organizers announced that Haywood Middle School brought in 1,680 cans. The following classes brought the most cans: The sixth-grade winner is Mr. Orr’s class with 26 cans. The seventh-grade winner is Mr. Hudson’s class with 285 cans. The eighth-grade winner is Mr. Grissom’s class with 629 cans.
Mrs. Mary Jane Williams and Mrs. Jane Jameson are sponsors for the organization. “We have all helped to make the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays brighter for many people,” Mrs. Williams said. “Thank you to all of you who participated in the Salvation Army canned food drive.”
