HMS Prodigy students visit Discovery Park
Prodigy students at HMS recently had the opportunity to visit Discovery Park of America in Union City, Tennessee. It is an $80 million project that they have followed for several years. It opened in November, 2013. It’s known for its world-class educational and entertainment experience with more than 100,000 square feet of exhibits and programs to help students “see-beyond” their current level of knowledge in many areas. The 10 exhibit galleries are hands-on and showcase energy, science/space/technology, transportation, and much more. While the HMS students were there, they were able to receive a discovery-guided lesson led through activities correlated with both Common Core and Tennessee State Standards. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Prodigy students at Haywood Middle School.
