Named Teacher of the Year at Haywood Middle School is Merry Bond. Ms. Bond has been teaching in public schools for 26 years. She teaches eighth grade math. Ms. Bond was also chosen as the District Level Teacher of the Year, Grades 5-8.

Ms. Bond attended Jackson State Community College then Lane College where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education K-8. Since then she has attended Lambuth University, the University of Tennessee, Belmont University and the University of Memphis to take a number of courses. She completed her Master’s of Educational Leadership Degree in 2002 from Trevecca Nazarene University. She worked in Fayette County Schools from 1986 to 1997 before coming to Haywood County Schools. She has also served as a mentor to other teachers.
