Oh The Places East Side Will Go!

East Side Intermediate School kicked off the school year with a BANG! It started with an awesome Back-to-School Night as fourth- and fifth-grade students were graced with the theme “Oh the Places You Will Go” by Dr. Seuss. This theme was chosen because East Side Intermediate students are expected to go places far above and beyond what they could have ever imagined. Students and parents had an opportunity to meet and greet the amazing staff that is responsible for nourishing and cultivating a love for learning and growing in every student. This event took place on Friday, July 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. Then, as icing on the cake, students were greeted on the first day of school with handshakes and high-fives from the WLJT (local PBS station) Mascot, Rocky-T (Reading Ranger), and The Cat in the Hat. Superintendent Teresa Russell, along with other Central Office personnel, were also on hand to greet students with delightful smiles.  East Side Intermediate School truly is “A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN!”

Also in the news at East Side – students and staff members are embracing a new addition to their family – Officer Donelda Arview! Officer Arview, the School Resource Officer, makes her charming yet firm presence known to the students throughout the day. She is seen in the halls greeting students with a smile, showing kindness, and offering words of encouragement. She sets a great example for students to follow. One could never know the extent to how many students she may impact to go into that field someday. Officer Arview is a wonderful asset to the team. Welcome, Officer Arview!
