Randy Jetton And Julie Davis – HHS Teachers Of The Year
Mr. Randy Jetton is currently serving at Haywood High School as an 11th grade U.S. History teacher. He has 10 years’ teaching experience in Haywood County Schools. Mr. Jetton is currently the Social Studies Department Chair at Haywood High School. He has given special classes for EOC test prep, informational sessions for parents to showcase course expectations, and has coached the tennis team for Haywood High School. Outside of work, Mr. Jetton is involved in mission work in his community as well as in other communities. He said, “I consider my work as a teacher to be more than imparting knowledge about history; I consider my position as being a mentor and in this role, I practice understanding and empathy.”
Mrs. Julie Davis is currently serving in the Haywood High School Career and Technical Division where she teaches Marketing and Computer Applications. Mrs. Davis has 7.5 years of teaching experience. She is the business department’s lead teacher and a mentor for new teachers. She has prepared Career and Technical students for district and state competitions and notary conferences. Mrs. Davis has been rewarded a technology grant, was recognized by DECA and as a FBLA Organization for Exceptional Student Growth, and served as the yearbook advisor for two years. Outside of work, Mrs. Davis serves actively at the local soup kitchen, teaching women and children’s Bible classes, and serves on the praise team. “The first strategy and teaching practice that I believe is important is helping students connect ‘why’ they would want to know more about a topic and how it relates to their own lives,” she said.
