Students Celebrate Dental Health Month
February is Dental Health Month and the state Health Department’s Tamara Roach and Haywood County School’s Health Coordinator Cindy Smith have been making the rounds teaching students cool facts about dental health through the ages and for today.
Did you know that in the 15th and 16th Centuries, people made toothbrushes out of bones and whiskers of animals? And they made toothpaste out of animal hooves. Mouthwash was made out of tree bark. Wow, we have come a long way. They also learned about drinking too much sugary soda and what it does to their teeth and their waistlines. We have come a long way with dental health practices, but we need to remember what we have learned and take care of our super healthy teeth!
