Students learn during Dental Health Month
Hollie Allen, with the West Tennessee TENNdercare program, part of the Health Department services, in partnership with Coordinated School Health, educated students at Haywood Elementary and East Side Intermediate recently as part of Dental Health Month. She presented a short educational lesson about keeping teeth healthy by brushing, flossing, going to the dentist, and eating healthy foods. She also did a writing lesson with the East Side students, who were so smart! Following the lesson, all students were given information and new toothbrushes to take home. “Did you know that a long, long time ago, it was written that the way to get rid of a toothache was to kiss a donkey? YUK! Glad things have improved since then,” said School Health Coordinator Cindy Smith.
