Titus Newble brings home the silver

Titus Newble represented Haywood High School and the State of Tennessee the week of July 4 in San Diego, California, at the FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) National Leadership Conference, competing in the comprehensive event of Nutrition and Wellness at the Junior level. He won the silver medal in the contest.

Titus worked very hard all school year preparing for this event, gathering information to build a portfolio and a 10-minute presentation that he would have to give to a panel of judges at the district level to advance to the state level. At the State Leadership Conference he won a Silver medal and earned his spot to compete at the National level in San Diego against 49 other states, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

When Titus found out he qualified to compete at the National level, he began perfecting his presentation and fundraising. Titus was very fortunate to receive generous donations from Insouth Bank, Mayor Rawls, Teknor Apex, and many family members and friends so that he could represent Haywood High School.

Titus is an upcoming sophomore at Haywood High School and Mrs. Sarah Haynes’ FCCLA Chapter Vice President. He is 15 years old and the son of Mr. Robert Newble and Mrs. Sandra Williamson.
