HES presents Spring concert

Haywood Elementary School students pulled out all the stops on April 13 when they presented to a huge crowd of family and friends their Spring Concerts. With the theme, “We’re Going to the Movies,” first graders sang songs from movies that some of them remember and certainly the audience remembers. Some of those selections were “On the Good Ship Lollipop,” “The Bare Necessities,” “I’m Popeye the Sailor Man,” “Let’s Hear It For the Boy,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”

Second graders presented other songs from movies, such as “What a Wonderful World,” “The Addams Family Theme,” “My Girl,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Footloose,” and “Beauty & the Beast Medley.”

Third graders selected songs from “Ghostbusters,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Stayin’ Alive,” “Flashdance … What a Feeling,” “Stand by Me,” “Purple Rain,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”

Directing all the concerts was HES Music Teacher Patricia Gaietto, and stage designer is Roy Hawkins. Anna Roberts is principal and Edith Giles-Williams is assistant principal.
