Mrs. Lovelace’s students celebrate Grandparents and Patriot Day

In Mrs. Elizabeth Lovelace’s first-grade classroom, studentsl celebrated Grandparents’  Day and Patriot Day on Friday, September 10. The class had 10 visitors show up for their Grandparents’ Day celebration. Students enjoyed interviewing their “Super Senior,” tracing their handprints, and showing them their favorite parts of the classroom. Most were able to stay and enjoy lunch with the special student.

That afternoon we celebrated Patriot Day.  All of the students in the class wore red, white, and blue. Students created pencil flags as the classs discussed 9-11. Students enjoyed a story about the Twin Towers called “The Man Who Walked Between The Towers.” It depicts the story of Philippe Petit’s tight-rope walk between Manhattan’s World Trade Center Towers in 1974. Students were able to see pictures of the towers then and now.
